"The Rush" Lower South Fork of the Payette :
Meet us at the Cascade Raft River Center to begin your trip on the Lower South Fork. After checking in, we will take a quick drive upstream to our put-in location at the Confluence Launch Site near Garden Valley. Your guide staff will equip everyone with lifejackets, helmets, paddles, and safety information before you start the 8-mile trip to the take-out at Banks. Additional equipment such as wetsuits, splash jackets, and booties will be provided as desired, or by weather and river conditions.

On this exciting section of river, you will descend rapids including Broco Billy (class IV), Dog Leg (class III), Tight and Right (class III), Staircase (class IV), and Slalom (class IV). Be prepared to get drenched by big waves that splash over the raft as you paddle downstream. The length and more technical nature of these rapids create an exhilarating whitewater challenge. A kayaker accompanies each trip to provide additional support on the river.

At Banks, we will rejoin the shuttle vehicle that delivered us to the put-in for a 15-minute drive back to the Cascade Raft River Center where you will find changing rooms, our gift shop and cafe, and photos from your trip ready for viewing. Though the length of the trip fluctuates with the water levels, you can expect to spend approximately three hours round trip.

For safety, we require that all rafters on our Lower South Fork trip fit properly into an adult-sized lifejacket. This trip is recommended for those weighing over 95 pounds and over 12 years of age.

"The Plunge" South Fork Canyon of the Payette :
The full-day South Fork Canyon raft trip departs from the Cascade Raft River Center at 8:30 AM. Guests coming from the Sun Valley or Stanley area can make arrangements with the reservations staff to meet the trip at the Danskin Boat Ramp. After collecting all participants, we will continue to our put-in at the Deadwood Campground, a few miles downstream from Lowman, Idaho. Your guide staff will equip everyone with lifejackets, helmets, paddles, and safety information before you start the 13-mile trip to the take-out at the Danskin Boat Ramp. Additional equipment such as wetsuits, splash jackets, and booties will be provided as desired, or by weather and river conditions.

The Canyon features continuous class III and IV rapids some of which include Oxbow, Gateway, Blackadar, Lone Pine, Little Falls, and Surprise. The successful negotiation of these rapids requires energetic paddling and teamwork under the direction of our most experienced guides. After a few miles, we will disembark to portage Big Falls (an unrunnable 40 waterfall) and admire its beauty and power. A kayaker accompanies each trip to provide additional support as needed on the river.

Midway through the trip we will stop on a riverside beach for lunch. Your guides will serve up the fixings for our popular deli-style sandwiches, Train Wreck (salsa and cream cheese with crackers), summer's fresh fruit, pasta primavera salad, gourmet cookies, and soft drinks. After refueling, we continue downstream to encounter some of the most exciting rapids of this section before conclusion of the trip at the Danskin Boat Ramp.

Board the shuttle vehicle for the drive back to the Cascade Raft River Center where you will find changing rooms, our gift shop and cafe, and photos from your trip ready for viewing. Though the length of the trip fluctuates with the water levels, you can expect to return to the river center at approximately 4:00 PM.

For safety, we require that all rafters on our South Fork Canyon trip fit properly into an adult-sized lifejacket. This trip is recommended for those weighing over 95 pounds and over 12 years of age.
