When to Raft

Looking forward to the 2008 white water rafting season? We are! At
Cascade Raft & Kayak (located on the Payette River less than one hour
north of Boise, Idaho), preparations are already underway for the
upcoming rafting and kayaking season. Of course, we will have to wait
for the snow to melt to actually get on the river, but snowpack for
the Payette River basin looks to be excellent, which should make for
an exciting spring as well as great whitewater all the way through
September.

How do you choose the best time to go rafting? You should consider a
few things when planning your whitewater adventure: weather and water
levels are the most important. While we offer white water rafting as
early as April, the spring generally has variable temperatures and
higher water levels. If you have been rafting before and are looking
for the adventure and challenge that high water levels bring (and
don't mind suiting up for snowmelt runoff), late May and June are your
best bet. Don't forget that at Cascade Raft & Kayak, we provide you
with all the equipment you need to be comfortable on whatever section
of the Payette River you choose. Looking to introduce the kids to
whitewater? You can bank on warm temperatures and normal water levels
for late June through early September. All of our guides are
professionally trained and certified and great at finding the right
level of white water excitement for your group.

At Cascade Raft & Kayak, we love whitewater rafting, we love the
Payette River and the Boise National Forest, and we love sharing it
with others. Join us this summer to experience Idaho's white water at
its best! Hope you see you on the river.
