Thank you for your employment inquiry.  While much of our staff returns year to year, we always have a few openings for off-the-water positions for the 2011 season.  If you are looking for a fun, fast-paced, service-oriented job in the outdoor industry, consider a summer job with us.

Raft Guide

Raft guides make up the core of our summer staff.  Guides have the responsibilities of both safety and entertainment during the on-the-water trip time and the preparation and clean-up before and after trips.  All guides must be licensed by the State of Idaho (meeting all licensing requirements, including being 18 or older).  Each season we seek seasoned guides as well as enthusiastic new recruits.  For those with no prior rafting experience, guide training and river safety courses will be available through Cascade Raft and Kayak.  Mostly, we look for quick and willing learners who will contribute to a positive, team atmosphere, are friendly and customer service oriented, and will conform to company policies as described in the Cascade Raft and Kayak employee handbook. 

Full and part time positions are available May 15 through September 15 or as needed.  Starting wages are $65 per day and increase in accordance with experience.  Benefits include working in a fun, fast-paced, outdoor atmosphere, rafting and kayaking opportunities, employee discounts through the café and gift shop.

Kayak Instructor

Cascade Kayak School offers technically-based kayak instruction focusing on teaching proper technique that can be expanded and built upon.  We seek instructors with solid kayaking skills, communication and inter-personal skills, and a broad understanding of paddling techniques.  All instructors must be licensed by the State of Idaho (meeting all licensing requirements, including being 18 or older), and hold a valid driver’s license. Mostly, we look for quick and willing learners who will contribute to a positive, team atmosphere, are friendly and customer service oriented, and will conform to company policies as described in the Cascade Raft and Kayak employee handbook. 

Full and part time positions are available May 15 through September 15 or as needed.  Starting wages are $65 per day and increase in accordance with experience.  Benefits include working in a fun, fast-paced, outdoor atmosphere, rafting and kayaking opportunities, employee discounts through the café and gift shop.

Whitewater Photographer

Photographers are an integral part of each raft trip Cascade Raft and Kayak offers.  Photographers drive shuttle, take action whitewater shots of our rafters, show and sell those photos immediately following the trip.  Enthusiastic, professional communication with guests and staff, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.  Cascade Raft and Kayak will provide opportunities for photography training and a bus-driving course for CDL licensing.  We look for quick and willing learners who will contribute to a positive, team atmosphere, are friendly and customer service oriented, and will conform to company policies as described in the Cascade Raft and Kayak employee handbook. 

Full and part time positions are available May 15 through September 15 or as needed.  Starting wages are $55 per day plus sales commission and increase in accordance with experience.  Benefits include working in a fun, fast-paced, outdoor atmosphere, rafting and kayaking opportunities, employee discounts through the café and gift shop.

Reservationist

Our reservations office is at the heart of Cascade Raft and Kayak.  Reservationists often make the first contact with our guests, so conveying accurate information in a friendly and professional manner is essential.  Reservationists are expected to communicate productively with guests and staff, use a multi-line telephone, operate the Resmark reservations system properly, and have a basic knowledge of computing, accounting, mathematical and secretarial skills.  We look for quick and willing learners who will contribute to a positive, team atmosphere, are thorough and detail-oriented, and will conform to company policies as described in the Cascade Raft and Kayak employee handbook. 

Full and part time positions are available May 15 through September 1 or as needed.  Most reservationists will work from mid June through late August, as this is our busiest period.  Starting wages are $8.00 per hour.  Benefits include working in a fun, fast-paced, outdoor atmosphere, rafting and kayaking opportunities, employee discounts through the café and gift shop.

Cafe/Gift Shop/Catering

Gift shop, café, and catering staff have a chance to provide the first and last impression of Cascade Raft and Kayak for our guests.  Gift shop and café staff often make the first face-to-face contact with our guests, so creating a welcoming environment and offering helpful information in a friendly and professional manner is essential.  Gift shop/café/catering staff members are expected to communicate productively with guests and staff, operate the registers and capture machines properly, and have a knowledge of safe food-handling skills.  We look for quick and willing learners who will contribute to a positive, team atmosphere, are personable and outgoing, and will conform to company policies as described in the Cascade Raft and Kayak employee handbook. 

Full and part time positions are available May 15 through September 10 or as needed.  Starting wages are $7.25 per hour.  Benefits include working in a fun, fast-paced, outdoor atmosphere, rafting and kayaking opportunities, employee discounts through the café and gift shop.
